About OGB: American College of Surgeons volunteerism initiative

Operation Giving Back is a comprehensive resource designed to meet surgeons' needs related to volunteerism issues. 

 

This site is designed to serve a multitude of functions:

     -It will direct surgeons to volunteer activities in the US and other countries.

     -It will allow a surgeon to specify the factors that are important in identifying a suitable opportunity, such as the time commitment, or whether their specialty can be utilized.

     -It will allow a surgeon to create a "profile" of such parameters and enable a "quick search" to occur when they return to the site to see all current opportunities that meet their specifications.

     -It will provide resources to research the political, medical, cultural and physical environment of the country of interest by utilizing the "Tool Kit" created for each opportunity.

      -It will serve as a resource on legislature pertinent to medical volunteers.

      -It will serve as a information source on data and stories related to surgical volunteerism.
